KATHUA: Police on Sunday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 17 bovines and arrested a smuggler. As per details, a team of Police Station Lakhanpur under the supervision of SHO Sanjeev Chib during Naka checking, intercepted a vehicle (JK02BU-5277), which was coming from Punjab towards Lakhanpur. On thorough checking of vehicle, 17 bovines were found laden in it, which were rescued. The driver Mohd Yakoob, son of Roshan Din, resident of Tumari Tehsil Dinanagar District Gurdaspur, Punjab was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 20/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered in aforesaid Police Station and further investigation is underway.
