JAMMU: The Lawyers Action Committee, on 119th day of its agitation, during a specially convened meeting at venue of Dharna in Janipura Courts, after detailed discussions, decided to suspend ongoing Dharna, initiated since October 15, 2020. The Committee took into consideration the fact that physical hearings have started in all Courts including in High Court, concerned litigants including witnesses have been permitted to enter Courts, hard copies of cases have been permitted, Bar Rooms, Canteens, Juice-Corners have been opened. All this has facilitated normal functioning of Courts.The Committee decided to discuss with the Chief Justice, the issues of holding election for J&K Bar Council and pending contempt proceedings against some lawyers. The demand of shifting back the Registration from Revenue to Judicial Officers, opening of Consumer Courts, making provision of availability of stamp papers inside the Court complex have to be addressed by the Government.The Lawyers Action Committee has proposed to invite representatives of Political, Social, Trade, Literary organisations and eminent citizens in a Convention, to held soon in Jammu. In this Convention, the ill effect on the constitutional and legal rights of people of J&K by repealing good laws made by J&K State, shall be on agenda. A common agenda for restoration of identity, dignity and Constitutional and Legal rights of people shall be chalked out in the Convention after thorough deliberations.The advocates present on the occasion included H C Jalmeria (Convener), A K Sawhney (Former President Jammu Bar), B R Sharma (Former Vice President Jammu Bar), Vinod Abrol, C S Gupta (Former Secretary Jammu Bar), Shah Mohd Choudhary, Roop Lal, Subodh Singh Jamwal, J P Sharma, Meharban Singh, Kunal Singh Chib, S C Sharma, Warris Gill, Harish Kaila, Amit Gupta, Chetan Misri, S Z Ahmed, Dinesh Singh Jamwal, Mulkh Raj, Sumeshwar Kohli, Naresh Kumar, Gagandeep Singh Lucky, Vikas Gupta, Vikas Suri, A S Sahi and Danish Gill.
