JAMMU: Former Legislator Ch. Vikram Randhawa met G. Krishna Reddy, MoS for Home Affairs, Govt. of India.“J&K has been affected by terrorism, sponsored and supported from across the border for the past few decades. The incidents of terrorist attacks on Kashmiris and non-Kashmiris were at the peak before the head, but from the day Ministry of Home Affairs took up the charge of Law & Affairs in J&K, incidents of violence have been reduced significantly in the Kashmir valley,” Randhawa said.Security forces, he said, have achieved major success against terrorist activities which also noted that terror-related activities have reduced by around 36% in the Valley.The number of Grenade attacks, IED attacks, killing police personnel, civilians have been declined, said Randhawa.Applauding the efforts of the ministry, he said, it has been noticed that there is a 40% decrease of involvement of local youths in a terrorist organization, antinational activities which involve disrespect of Tricolour, slogans in favour of Pakistan has been reduced, number of stone-pelters has also been reduced. Moreover, some wanted terrorists like Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo, Lashkar commander Haider, Jaish commander Kari Yasir and others have been killed by security forces.The security forces have also busted various terror hideouts, added Randhawa.Randhawa requested Reddy to visit Jammu and Kashmir to become more well versed with the ground reality and also want that Ministry should empower the J&K Police, which is the law enforcement agency and having primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation with more powers so that they can tackle these kinds of anti-national elements with iron hands. Ministry of Home Affairs ensured that they are paving every possible way to end corruption atrocities and violence in J&K and make way for industries, investment, and employment in every possible manner, said Reddy.
